I have referred many friends already to these six ounce food pouches. Three out of ten people on my one camping trip said they were going to buy them after seeing the product in person and in action. I use them for camping food as I need something to eat while hiking in to camp that isn't a store bought product so that I can use my own preferred ingredients. The opening at the top is like that of a seal bag,3.5" or more across, to easily fit the food or liquid in the pouch. The opening to use to consume something from the food pouch is easily able to be used if you put something in with an applesauce type consistency without getting jammed in the opening. These pouches are well made with the most tight seals and did not come open in my backpack even when the sides were squeezed due to being in a tightly packed space in my pack.On a more personal note, if you buy this product, I recommend this recipe. I made a mix of no sugar added berry flavored applesauce (store bought with some preservatives to help the food travel well), honey, peanut oil, and protein powder so that I could have a well balanced snack with honey instead of sugar and with enough protein and fat for my hiking needs - tastes like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich! A recipe such as this is what makes these 6oz durable pouches much better than the 2oz pre-filled variety sold commercially because it doesn't taste like swallowing sugar and instead tastes like a snack or a treat while being more liquid since these are 6oz. I traveled with one frozen and two refigerator temperature pouches and could have them over a 10 hour period this way due to the nature of the food.

These 6 oz pouches are great for little hands. Keeping that in mind I have been using them with blended fruit for my son. They are a little awkward to fill the first time if this is a motion you are not used to. If you have ever filled a portable flask, then you know what I am talking about! Clean up is moderately complicated but lets face it, I have had to clean baby bottles for the past year and already have the small brushes from cleaning my pump when I need to clean the gunky stuff. Here's a simple tip: don't let it get nasty. Just friggin wash things after you use them and stop complaining! One thing I have really loved about them is making a strawberry slushie and soft freezing it before going to the park. While he plays, it gets soft and squishy and then he can use it like a traditional pouch. By the way, I was offered a discount on my purchase in exchange for my brutally honest and unbiased review of these pouches.

The pouches seem like they would be awesome for my son but unfortunately I didn't receive any caps to go on them so I will have to wait to find out. I was really excited to get these too.
