The Photoshop Elements 14 Book for Digital Photographers 1st Edition

This Is a very fine product which is very clear in its definition of terms and process of the techniques and structure of Adobe Photoshop Elements 14 and Premiere Elements 14. It made installation of the program very easy compared to Adobe Photoshop Elements 10. However Adobe Photoshop Elements 14 is somewhat of a disappointment in that it doesn't have the most basic total color enhancement like Photoshop Elements 10 did. Photoshop Elements 14 only has Auto Color Correction and color enhancement where one can adjust single color boosts or graph waves of color enhancement. I simply want all colors to be stepped up a tiny bit because of loss of color on dim or rainy, misty days while shooting wildlife.

Written more inline with a digital photographer instead of an older hobbiest who had a pile of old analog photos/slides that they would like to digitize and improve. The book is loaded with very well printed color photos that show improvements that can be easily made. However it leans more to a cookbook than an organized text for the product. Of course, in my opinion, it would take one super technical writer to produce that kind of book. But for the money plus the ability to download lots of sample images, it is worth the money in my book..

A great book

I'm usually pretty good at figuring out creative softwares and photo editing softwares, but photoshop & working with layers has always stumped me. I've wanted to take a photoshop class, but time just hasn't allowed it.....maybe eventually. For now, this book has helped me a ton. It's very straight forward, clear instructions, and gets right to the point. If you've had photoshop for years and never really learned how to use all the powerful editing tools, I very highly recommend this book. It has a cover price of $49.99 and after using it, I would gladly pay that, but Amazon has it for just over $28. Great deal!

I have the similar version of this book for Elements 10. And it has all the same type of hints, tips, and occasional humor to bring you up to date with Elements 14. It cuts through a lot of the theory and just lays out the steps one-by-one on how to clean up, straighten up, or jazz up your pictures. Worth every penny.

I would have preferred to give this 4.5 stars. It does a good job. Sometimes it takes awhile to follow the instructions. More graphics would have been helpful. I'm an amateur, use PSE infrequently and this is the 4th version I have owned, so I rely on manuals quite a bit when trying new affects or needing a refresher.

Scott Kelby is a great teacher. From the very first page you get the feeling he is addressing you personlly! The instructions are provided in a very clear and concise manner. The only warning I will give the readers of this review is to follow his directions. When he suggest that you do something... DO IT! Had I followed this advise in the past I'd know a lot more today and would've saved gobs of time. Scott Kelby makes learning fun!

Scott has made elements easy to understand, is very through in his explanations and has a sense of humor that makes it enjoyable to read. Like the Kindle version because I can go to a bookmark, or table of contents, or index with the flip of a finger. I will repeat chapters to get better understanding and practice. Thanks Scott Kelby..
