How does this product compare to the Ulu Factory Alaska Cutlery ulu knife and bowl that cost twice as much?

I've had this style of chopper before. Very useful. My question is what kind of wood is the bowl made of? Specifically is it hard enough not to shred?

are these made in china?

love this ulu and board i bought 6 mos ago. banged it on my sink and it split in half. is there some way i can get a replacement board only?
