Common Sense Approach to a Healthier Lifestyle
I was mildly pessimistic about this book, to be honest, as I have seen many celebrity cookbooks and fitness books that have really fallen flat and have been more of a vanity publication rather than a useful volume. I was willing to give it a fair chance, though, and I am glad I did. I would hesitate to say it's a great book, but it's definitely better than I expected and there's a lot of useful information and ideas in it.To be clear up front, this is neither exclusively a cookbook nor a fitness book - it's both in one volume which was a pleasant surprise. Fitness is more than just what you eat and more than just an exercise program, but is a combination of the two. It is encouraging that this book approaches fitness and health in a more holistic way. This book presents a number of ideas on health, from mindfully listening to what your body is trying to say to finding time for exercise. It also presents a modest collection of recipes and eating plans. Looking through the recipe collection it is clear that these are pescatarian in nature, and those with seafood are few and far between (so, mostly vegetarian, but certainly not vegan). The overarching thought that hit me as I have dug through this book is that these are ideas and plans that have worked for the author. That's great, but usually plans like this aren't one-size-fits-all. It is also not clear how much of this extends past common sense and into medical evidence with medical professionals behind it.This is certainly not a bad book and there is some good information in it that most people will find relatable and/or helpful in getting healthier. It seems to be a common-sense approach to better health. Just remember, though, that it is not a plan that will work for everyone.

Fitter. Calmer. Stronger. Who doesn't want to be all of those things?
I had no idea who Ellie Goulding was before I got this book. I figured she was a trainer or fitness pro of some sort. Not that it matters, because I really like the message of this book, no matter who wrote it, which is a sane, balanced, non-crazy-making approach to nutrition and exercise through mindfulness and sensibility. This is the sort of book I wish I'd read years ago. I might have saved countless dollars on diet and weight-loss books if I had. Everything in it just makes so much sense.I love the mindset work in it with its focus on positivity and calmness. The quotes scattered through out really speak to me, some examples are: "If you listen to your body when it whispers, you won't have to hear it scream." "Exercise is a celebration of what your body can do. Not a punishment for what you ate."There is are sections on breathing, on gut health, on books to read, that focus on overall general, holistic health. The body work sections have several different workouts to choose from. While some of them are fairly ambitious, depending on fitness level and motivation, there are a great many that are doable and require little to no equipment. Goulding is a big fan of boxing, so there's a pretty serious section on that. I wasn't my thing, but I'm now intrigued enough to definitely want to try it.The food section is the smallest, but the recipes are nicely varied and include two very well-done charts for creating your own personalized smoothies and stir-fries, respectively.I'm surprised by how much good and useful information is in this book. It was really well-thought out and put together and it is a great blueprint to follow if you're goal is to be exactly what the title promises - fitter, calmer and stronger.

Book scratched up
The book content itself is fine, but the physical copy I received is scratched all over on the front cover. Got this as a gift and am kind of embarrassed to give the person a book that is “new” but clearly damaged

Seems like a really sold book.
This review is for: Fitter. Calmer. Stronger.: A Mindful Approach to Exercise and NutritionSo, while I certainly don't live under a rock, I don't have a clue who this "global superstar" is. Like zero. I listen to plenty of music, but apparently not what she does. I didn't even know she was a singer until reading further in the description of this book.I was drawn instantly to the title of the book, though. I like the idea of a whole body approach to health and mental well-being. Reading the description, it sounded great. This book is truly a comprehensive guide to improving physical and mental health. It goes beyond just diet and exercise and provides readers with holistic advice and regimens to become the brightest, strongest version of themselves. The book is filled with Ellie's own experiences, as well as advice from experts like Ant Middleton and Fearne Cotton. I'm impressed with all the great information contained in this book and appreciate the fact that it takes a sustainable approach to wellness that doesn't leave you feeling like you've failed. The price for this hardcover was $19.98 when I got it which seems okay, though I wouldn't pay more than that. I would definitely suggest reading this book if you're looking to improve your relationship with your physical and mental health.I hope this was helpful.

Mind, body and spirit
Singer/author Ellie Goulding delivers a beautiful approach to wellness. Not completely exercise based, nor solely diet based, Ellie writes an all inclusive, self-help path to overall fitness. A bit “crunchy” perhaps, which may turn some people off, but I quite enjoyed the strong mental perspective. I found the recipes a bit lacking for my taste but that’s just my personal take.
