Sharp and light
This knife is fantastic. Whether you are cutting something delicate such as tomatoes, or hard like a cabbage, this knife slide through anything like warm butter. I’ve had several more expensive knives, and I’ve never had one with the blade sharp and as strong as this one. I love ceramic knives for their sharpness, but they’re so fragile. After my last one broke I started looking for a stronger chefs knife, and I Found this one. found this one. I wasn’t sure what I would get because the price was so reasonable, but I am very pleasantly surprised! The first thing I chopped was an apple, and it slid through with barely any pressure required from me. Chopping vegetables with this knife is almost cathartic. I like the weight of the knife. The blade is very light, but the handle is heavy, it feels very sturdy in your hand. The handle is very comfortable as well, with a comfortable grip that doesn’t slip even when your hand is wet.Although it’s not as important as the benefits of having a sharp and strong knife, I have to mention that it is packaged beautifully. It even comes with a protective case for storing, which I absolutely love! I highly recommend this knife! It is an excellent quality chefs knife, especially for the price!

I no longer fear cutting the dreaded butternut squash!
I have never owned a professional knife yet so my review is through the eyes of a professional knife newbie. I love to cook and not sure why it took so long to get a "real" knife. The difference between a good knife like this one, and regular cheaper knife (like the ones in my drawer), is like night and day. I am so used to "sawing" my meat and veggies, and now I get to bring out my inner master chef with my new Okami Chef Knife. I can chop a whole onion in seconds and can slice raw beef practically using one finger. It is SHARP and I have already cut myself; just a small nick but I need to be more careful. The wide part of the knife close to the handle was the culprit. I was holding the knife too close to that part and have since adjusted the way I hold the knife. This Okami Knife slices right through a ripe tomato. I can cut my tomato as thin as I want with ease. It took me less than 10 seconds to cut a pineapple. I used to dread cutting butternut squash. Not anymore! So, I love the way it cuts. It is also really pretty and comes with a gorgeous box and a protective sleeve. I like to store it in the box, seems safer. Made of German Steel which is supposed to be easier to home sharpen. I don't anticipate having to sharpen it often but I plan on making sure it is always sharp, via the husband as I don't know how. The handle is very comfortable and easy to hold (just don't hold it too close to the end like I did) for big chopping jobs. I am very pleased with the quality of this knife for the price. If I were chef ramsay, I might find a reason to not give it 5 stars, but this knife newbie can find no reason to *not* give this knife 5 stars. Would make an excellent gift! Happy slicing and dicing!!

Chef approved!
I LOVE THIS KNIFE!! It's so pretty, and cuts so smoothly! The case it came in is absolutely gorgeous, too! It has a nice weight to it, and I love that the protective sleeve is nice and snug. I asked my chef friend to take a look at it, and he said it was a very nice knife! He and my husband used it all day at the restaurant where they work, and I heard nothing but how great it was when I picked it up at the end of the day! My friend said that it's balanced nicely -- right on the second strip of the handle -- and it has a very ergonomic handle that is comfortable to hold. The shape of the blade rocks nicely as it cuts, and after a weeks worth of use it was still sharp enough to not bruise basil when it cut. His only criticism of note is that it's stainless steel, and not high-carbon stainless steel. He said that once it gets dull you either have to toss it, or pay to get it ground down back to sharp. You can't just grab a wet stone or a diamond honer and sharpen it at home. That being said, it should stay sharp for quite a while, according to him, and it's still a great knife as it stands. My husband always takes his good knife to work, so I'm thrilled to FINALLY have a good knife for at home! Definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good quality chef's knife!

Pro chef review after first use...
Beautiful package.Nice handle.Full tang with a great curve.Unfortunately the blade is too thin. The knife is very light and needed to be honed before use. Strangely enough it feels sharp out of the box but when you use it it cuts terribly. I am a professional chef and wanted something that I could leave at work and not be too upset if it walked off. An upgrade to our rental knives. So I'm writing this the day after it's first use in the kitchen. My finger still hurts. The blade at the base is far too thin and digs into your finger base. As a 20+year chef I have long since grown a callus in that area that protects my finger. This knife overcame that. It's weight. Far too light. Chopping through cauliflower was a chore. It did a respectable job cutting steaks however. As an overall kitchen knife I give it a C...

Nice Knife!
This knife has been a wonder to wield, once I gave more respect to the sharpe edge. I have been using it to cook at home for about a month, it’s still sharp, but might need sharpening and polishing soon. I’ve only been hand washing and left surface scratch swirling from the green side of the sponge.
