These vents may be expensive; however they truly are sturdy and fit rather nicely in the garage door thus reducing the heat build up in my garage by 20 degrees during the summer if not more! I love them but it did come with a price.

I painted mine with spray can of appliance paint. Looked like a factory job; mostly because of it being nice clean aluminum. Cut the hole on a hollow door. Note: use heavy tape around the cut line to prevent splintering of door paint. I left mine on under edge of louver frame. Just make sure you apply with the bulk of the tape to the inside of cut area so it doesn't hang over and then cut slowly. I had to check pic's online to figure out that the long end of the clip went to the inside of the frame. Have to make sure that all edges are clear of the cut so there is no blockage of the track the clips go into. It puts pressure on the frame and prevents firm snap in all the way around. Worked great, looks great. Now that being said. I would however think if this is going in an area that will be taken out multiple times or getting a lot of bumps and bangs; I would probably use a few dabs of quick grab or some other glue. Since i just put in the jury is really still out but I based on past household items and designs I have encountered I think she is going to be all good. Again, worst case is I would glue and not screw it in due to the design. I gave it 4 stars because it could of had a nice set of directions. So just look at the pictures here on line for the clip placement so you don't get them in backwards. Oh and I used the vent side to measure; traced the outside and then used the cover side to line up and trace the outside for final cut line. Also, be sure to measure from which ever (top or bottom) of door that has a level edge or the vent could end up higher on one end than the other.

I had no problem with the clips. Based on reviews I thought I might want to add a couple of screws after installation but there was no need. My door is 1-3/16" thick and it clicked in tightly without a problem. I have a lot of air movement though this grille due to the AC return being only in the basement. No vibrations or whistling noises. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Suited my purpose, but the tabs that hold the two pieces together are basically worthless. Had to drill holes and add screws to hold the two pieces together.
