yes it will - however its no good for a motorcycle or even a bicycle if yo go over 25 MPH

If you mean remove from holder then choose 1 of 2 ways. 1 is slid it off from plastic holder. 2nd is to unscrew cap that holds it mounted on plastic ball joint.

Q: does this fit a Samsung j5 model?

Yes it will - I have the A8 which is 149.2 x 70.6 x 8.4 mm compared to the J8's 142.1 x 71.8 x 7.9 mm. The phone holder accepts my phone both without and with a rigid leather flip-case (which "increases" the size of the phone to larger than the J5 in all dimensions). The Phone Holder has a couple of dense foam sheets on which the phone is placed - once the holder is zipped up, the foam holds the phone in place and keeps it firmly against the window. The two pieces of foam are different thicknesses and can be used together or individually so that you can adjust according to your device/phone. I use both pieces. In the unlikely event that a device/phone is too slim, you could easily use something to pad out underneath the foam. I am very pleased with the fit. I have also used the holder with a Samsung S5 mini with no flip-case.
