What a disappointment!I was pretty satisfied with this product for the first few weeks of owning it. I tried to hang it up at a minimum of once a week and clean it as well. I mainly bought this because it was non toxic; however, it growing mold after about a month and a half is JUST as toxic. It appears that the suction cups on the bottom create a gap in-between the mat and the tub, allowing for dark dark black colored mold to grow in-between this gap. The real disappointment/shocker was that I couldn't scrub any of it off! I seriously soaked this in bleach for an hour, came back, scrubbed it with a heavy duty scrubbing brush, and not even the slightest bit of it came off. I proceeded to try and get this nastyness off using a variety of methods, as it appeared to still be a good mat to me - however, none of my hours of research or cleaning methods made even the slightest bit of difference. It was as if someone took black food colouring and injected it into the bottom of the mat.With all that in mind, I had to throw it away as the main reason i bought it was to not have anything toxic about it and mold certainly violates that principle. Don't get me wrong, it worked VERY well the first month and a half I had it. But once the mold came (and believe me i was strenuous in my efforts to clean it) it had to go.Update: Due to the exceptional customer service that was extended to me from my comment, and that I felt the seller truly appreciated my concerns, I have decided 3 stars is more accurate; however, If you do end up buying this - clean it EVERY day!

Wow do I love this bath mat!In the past 3 years I have had two very serious injuries from falling and one injury was due to slipping in the shower. After over a year of physical therapy you better believe I take every precaution, especially in the shower.Previous to this purchase, I was just using your standard size bath mat. But I never felt comfortable with it, scared to death I would step off the mat and slip and fall. So I decided enough was enough and ordered this one.It has made a tremendous difference during my shower time. Gone is the fear I will accidentally step off of it. I now can move freely in my shower and have enough mat to stand on at all times.I ordered the blue one. It has great suction and it never slips. After I take a shower I pull it up from the shower floor and hang it on a handle bar I have installed in the shower. Every few days I toss it in my washer with a couple of large bath towels so the mat has something to rub up against when it's in the machine. I use hot water and color safe bleach, then after it's washed, I take it out and hang it back in the shower til I need it again.I love this mat and I highly recommend it.

I thought about purchasing a bath mat at Wal-Mart because it is such a small item. Most stores carry them, but now I am glad I got it through amazon. Why? because Wal-Mart doesn't carry anything that could measure up to this product. Well made and comfortable to stand on. I love the color. Glad I ordered it. I never noticed a smell as some reviewers have posted. If there was a smell I am sure it is just the vinyl that should go away after a few uses. I needed something that would prevent me from slipping and falling in the tub because anytime soap or conditioner gets on the bottom of the tub without the mat, it becomes extremely slippery. This is perfect as there are many suction cups to grab the bottom of the tub and I no longer have the slippery tub issue. I will be purchasing a second mat for my guest bathroom for when my in-laws visit. Should this product ever need replacing, I will buy it again. (see picture) I have this mat in my spare bathtub, which has only been used a few times in the past 5 years. The mat was not exposed to any cleaning chemicals. Starting two years ago it started showing signs of cracking. I need to discard it as it is disintegrating. The color looks bleached, faded pale in areas. I have other rubber items from many years ago and they look fine. I would venture to say this mat is not made from high quality rubber.

I love this unbelievably safe, nontoxic, and useful bath mat! Without question, it's the BEST SAFETY (nonslip, secure footing) bath mat I've ever used. Even better than those my grandmother had in her tub shower when I was a child. By contrast, the attractive but slippery $18-$20 mat my husband bought from a retailer earlier proved totally useless. I searched and searched, but no other product came even close to the Simple Lines product. (Watch out for those toxic "microban" anti-mold mats other companies sell). After I broke my arm, I was very frightened of falling again. While my husband was installing safety grab bars in our master shower, I started using the guest bathroom tub shower. As soon as we got the Simple Lines mat, I felt so secure and sure-footed, I didn't even feel a need for grab bars there and was able to shower without help to keep my balance. Very comfy under foot. We hang up to dry after each use. WE BOUGHT 3 MORE - will put 2 side by side in the master shower, on either side of the drain, and give 3rd to an elderly friend.

Like other reviewers have said when I opened the package there was a strong odor. After I scrubbed it down with my baby bottle soap and a sponge the smell went away. I thought I was going to get a blue one and do not remember seeing “color may vary” but the green color is fine also. It is thin and you can feel the suction cups through the mat but I don’t see it bother a child. Nothing like that ever bothered me as a child. I do have a slight texture on the bottom of my tub, which you can see in one of the pictures, and it still stuck well. I made sure to go through and push each one down to make sure it was secure. So far it is a good mat! I appreciate that it is PVC free.
