Fortune favors the prepared" the earflap hat covers the ears when it's bitter cold outside and can be secured to protect your ears from the freezing wind by tying the braided tassels together and when not needed you can raise the earflaps up to cool down. there is also a top tassel that can be used to hang the hat up to dry out for tomorrows adventure.

Warm, comfortable, what else do you need?
I've been looking for a warm classic mountaineering style hat for a while and recently found this one. The inner fleece lining is a lightweight fleece, not overly heavy. The bulk of the heat retention is done by the wool outer layer. The ear flaps cover my ears perfectly. I wore this hat yesterday on a hike up Buck Mountain in Upstate, New York. At the peak the temperature was roughly 15°F/-9°C with a windchill of 0°F. I was perfectly warm the entire time at the peak.

Great fit, great construction, overall great hat
My uncle lost a hat sort of like this one and has been mourning its loss -- LOUDLY -- for the last 10 months. We got him this for Christmas this year, and now he won't shut up about how much he loves it. He says it's so much better than the other one, he can't even believe he liked the other one. His only concern is that someone will steal it.No one is going to steal your hat, Tony. Calm down.

Everest Designs = Great Hats
I have had the Nordic version of this hat for about 10 years, and i still wear it... Thought about getting another hat to keep at my parents house when i visit for christmas and go skiing and so this is the one i went with... All i can say is this one is also great, head stays very warm even wicks moisture... They may be a little pricey, but honestly for how long they last and how warm they are just get one..

Worth the money
We was skeptical about purchasing the hat online but it arrived in perfect shape, washes well and fits my son like a glove. The colors are great and as described. The fleece lining is soft . It was well worth the money.

Lovely
Gifted this to a friend and he said it’s perfect. In particular he liked the fact that you can tie it under your chin so you don’t lose it at night (if sleeping under the stars in the mountains).

Cozy, well built, Warm Warm Warm
What can I say? I'm a bald guy and live in Colorado. So, I know hats. I started using Everest Designs s hats 10 years ago because they're durable, warm warm warm, cozy, comfortable, well-built hats. I have 7 or 8 ED hats and love them all.5 stars.Hand wash, line dry only!

Comfortable and warm! So good I bought it again!
I accidentally washed the first one and it shrunk, so this was a replacement. Wanted the same one because it's so wonderful. Love the fleece liner, and the warm wool outer layer!

Warm!!
I don’t live in a cold climate, so when I visit one, I make sure to bundle up. This hat keeps my head very warm. I’m planning on taking it with me when I do the Everest Base Camp trek.
