Spanninga BRASA XB Bike LED Rear Pannier Carrier Light

I was doing some research to replace a stock mounted light that was on my rear carrier that I was not entirely happy with. It wasn't filling me with confidence. I settled on this to replace it and I have to say I am very happy. The light is bright and clear and has some visibility from the sides. It is a constant on and no flash. Part of the problem I had with my previous light was the light flickering a bit and being inconsistent especially after going over bumps. The risk was that it would be dimmer than when I set out. This light is solid and is working consistent all the time. It shines bright and wide and there is no flash.There also appears to be an option to have this light connected to a dynamo. I may at some point fit one to me bicycle so I like the option. This light is also permanently fitted to the bike, which I wanted. The bike carrier I have already had a mounting bracket that suited multiple mounting gaps. This has a choice of mounting on an 80mm and 50mm holed bracket.Overall, very happy I went with this. There was a more expensive well known brand that I was considering, having not heard of Spanninga before, but doing a little research, I can say, I now rate these lights up there with the best. I will come back and edit this review if my opinion changes at any time in the future. Hopefully it won't. Best of luck.

Bought this light back in August 2018.I have found it to be 100% reliable.Not a dazzler as far as brightness is concerned, but it is a light that can be seen by other road users without blinding them. Of course, if there are times when you feel safer with more light, its easy enough to supplement your glow with an additional light.It's one of the most waterproof lights that I have had. It has been fixed to my bike for over twelve months, and used in my daily commute. Being siuated just above the rear wheel which has no mudguard, the light has had lots and lots of water mud and winter snow thrown at it and is still shining bright withour a flicker of hesitation.OK, if you want flashes, pulses, circles, SOS etc, then this is not likely to be the light for you.If however you want a belts n braces solid and reliable light with reflector for your rear rack, then this could be the one for you.

This was an expensive mistake! The battery compartment in this light is poorly designed and the terminal connections are inadequate. As I consequence, every time my bike encountered a minor bump, the light stopped working. In the end I had to modify the compartment to secure the batteries and add a piece of aluminium foil to the connectors to ensure constant power to the LED.

I have had this for while now and I remain very happy with the purchase. It well designed, of good quality and solidly fits on the back of my PakRak. I like the reflector being visible permanently with the option of adding the light. Now the darker nights are rolling in again the light has been switched on and it is bright. I need to use country roads on my commute so I like to be as visible as possible and this light is an integral part of the package. I also have a flashing light on my bag and helmet in addition to the very bright front light to add to the bright clothing. Good to be noticed 8D

Production quality assurance issue with the printed circuit board touching a cell casing: the through-hole pcb connections were trimmed too long in the factory causing one sharp solder joint to pierce the plastic cover of one of the two alkaline cells causing a short circuit. Both cells heated up melting the plastic cover of the cell. Fortunately, I found it before anything more serious happened. No further damage. I had to trim the pcb joint and I insulated the rear of the pcb. Had this not happened, it would have been 5 for design, aesthetics, ergonomics and quality of manufacture.

This is a great design. Gives out a very bright red light that also wraps around the side for better visibility. It has a couple of different fixtures and easily fittest onto my seat post mounted rack. Would thoroughly recommend this.

Ideal rear light for commuting: probably best as a secondary light to supplement a rechargeable light
