Flexi Surface Skimmer & Media Reactor with Magnet Mount

Originally bought this to use as a surface skimmer hybrid in a sorts. Using it with media I stuffed in to combat alage and other things while it also cleaned the surface to deter that ugly surface film. It's been running a few months, it seems to do ok. The pump is small, and I knew that going in to this. Im using it in a planted 120g tank. It hodes well, but the magnet I feel, might be a bit under powered for thicker tanks. I would love to see a larger version made.

This is a great alternative to a hang on the back filter. I've read bad reviews on it but I'm very satisfied. this is great for pico and nano sized reef aquariums. I got it running on a 4 gallon UNS tank. I highly recommend this for anyone running 1-10 gallons. only con for me is that it is surprisingly loud. didn't expect how loud it actually is, I'm hoping its just breaking in.

This product does not work with the provided carbon block. The pump is not powerful enough to keep up with the overflow water into the unit. The surface scum flows through the overflow portion at the top of the unit and out the other side and never gets sucked into the carbon block.I removed the carbon block and just used filter floss, which helps but there is still too much inflow for the pump.You need to adjust the unit so flow is at the very bottom of the intake to get it to work properly.The unit would work better if there were only an intake overflow on the front only and if the pump were more powerful.a 200 or 300gph pump would be better.
