At first I was a little disappointed that the HovaBator Genesis 1588 came with Incubator Warehouse's ...
I have just had my second successful hatch using the HovaBator Genesis 1588 with the Incuturn automatic egg turner! The first hatch was 8 eggs hatched out of 9 fertile eggs that were set. The second hatch was 20 eggs hatched out of 20 eggs set! Unlike the first hatch, the second group seem to all be very healthy cute little balls of fluff. I'm confident that the issues with the first hatch were not related to the quality of the incubator or egg turner. At first I was a little disappointed that the HovaBator Genesis 1588 came with Incubator Warehouse's Incuturn Automatic Egg turner and not the HovaBator brand egg turner. However, the Incuturn has been quite good! The only downside to the Incuturn is the sound of the motor, which fluctuates up and down. It's not at all noisy, but I find it irritating when doing stuff in the same room :) I like that, unlike the HovaBator egg turner, the Incuturn does not need to be removed from the incubator in the last 3 days before hatch (when you stop turning the eggs), you only have to turn it off. Which means less handling of the eggs on those last critical days of incubation. I also found that this incubator recovers quite quickly if you need to open it to examine your eggs during the incubation period.I did't have to adjust the temperature, as the factory set temp works and the incubator was excellent at maintaining a steady temperature throughout the incubation time. The recommended water amount for humidity worked. However, I did need to fill all the troughs in order to get the humidity to the recommended 70-80% for the final days and critical hatching time, where a low humidity can be fatal. (FYI: I live in the Puget Sound Area, which is not as humid as one would think.)Bottom line, I very much recommend the this incubator and auto egg-turner combo!

Great Product!
I've used it several times now. It's really easy to set up, and very easy to use. I have noticed that it was very difficult to keep the humidity were it needs to be with a very low amount of eggs. We used a dozen eggs the first time and we thought it was broken. When we fully loaded it, it was fine. We have used it for both chicken and duck eggs, and it works great. Simple to clean and store. Quick tip: I use a sports bottle that is non spill when it's upside down and a wide enough straw that the tip of the sports bottle spout fits in. Since you have to add water through out the incubation period, this makes it easier to remove the lid and prop it open while you add water without wetting the eggs and then closing the lid. Highly Recommend!

SET IT AND FORGET IT
This is a great little incubator for those hatching on a small scale. It is simple to use, very accurate, I did not use another thermometer other hydrometer. I set 16 eggs, 1 was not fertilized, 13 hatched, the other 2 made it to the end but died after they pipped. I am sure it was my fault, not the incubator. This is a 'set it and forget it' 'bator. The only thing I found that could be improved upon is the syrofoam, it really should be in a plastic case for durability, but treat it nice and you should be able to get a lot of use from it.

Well, It Worked the 1st Time......
Update: dropping my review to ONE - the company does not respond to email request for help. The first hatching went just great..36 out of 40 eggs hatched...2nd story not so good. It has 40 eggs in it and the egg turner isn't working at all. So, I contacted the maker GQF...only to find out that they do not support this one because Incubator Warehouse (the company whom I bought from here on Amazon) has changed the setup thus voiding the warranty. This is what GQF sent me:"The Hova Bator is GQF. You bought that package through a dealer. That is their turner, not GQF. Our turner is yellow and completely different."So...I've contacted Incubator Warehouse and have still not heard back from them. I'm rating them a TWO star because of the warranty problem, for changing what the manufacturer designed, and being misleading as to who made the incubator. I'm hoping they finally respond before I lose this batch of eggs.

Thermostat was off on one of two units I purchased
I've purchased two of these Combo Kits from Incubator Warehouse after having bad luck with my Brinsea incubators burning out. The Genesis 1588 incubator is easy to operate with simple, clear temperature and humidity readings. The only problem I've had is that the temperature indicated is not accurate--particularly on one of the two units I received. They come factory set to 100F and the instructions recommend you do not adjust the temperature until you've run a couple of hatches of eggs to see your results. I do not agree with that advice. Unfortunately, I lost 3-dozen rare eggs before realizing the readings were so far off. Even after lowering the temperature setting on the control panel down to 98.5F, areas inside the incubator were still above 101F. The second unit was actually about 100.5F when set to the pre-set 100F.The air does not seem to circulate very well inside these incubators, and I'm definitely finding inconsistent temperatures at various spots inside. I've also noticed that the eggs slots closest to the turner motor get very hot presumably due to the heat generated by the motor. Avoid using the nearest two or three egg slots if possible. I would recommend rotating the eggs around the incubator for that reason. These are good incubators and I would purchase them again; however, you should not trust the factory setting and verify the temperature at yolk level before setting your eggs. There is no handle or easy way to lift the lid on these. I would recommend HovaBator change their design slightly to incorporate some form of grip, hand-holds, or handle with which to lift off the lid.

Finally, a stable, affordable incubator!
Was looking for a good, large, inexpensive incubator to hatch my goose eggs and this one was suggested. I'm so glad I bought it! This is one of the only incubators I have gotten that using a calibrated hygrometer and thermometer, every single spot in this incubator is the exact same! No fluctuations, no cold or hot spots. I have had zero losses! Love it!!!
