Some things that need to be taken apart...
...or put together are now beyond my capabilities, due to arthritis and I'm no longer young and strong. But ALL Vice-Grips® really really grip and give that extra boost you might need. Work smarter, with the right tools.

Go with these, not the cheap ones.
I used these on a bunch of plumbing and irrigation projects. They worked perfectly. Others try and cut corners and use tools how they aren't meant to be used, I just buy the right tools for the job.Irwin has always been a quality brand. I'll pay the extra $5-$10 for their products any day.

Nice BUT..........
I used it to put around my pulley when installing a new fan in my 1999 ford F350, worked great.....once I figured it out, it is kinda awkward to latch the chain onto the wrench, either that or I am a pumpkin headed dum dum, but I did find it to be frustrating using it in a tight area.

Boat oil/fuel filters and their removal
I was changing oil on my boat using a typical oil filter wrench, the type that's clamps and tightens as you push on it, the filter would not move, but was trying to bend. Yes I was down quite low on the filter, still no go. So I went up to the marina and saw a mechanic I often use, he had one of these Irwin Locking Chain Clamp wrenches which he was willing to loan me. I put this Irwin wrench on the problem filter, adjusted the chain down around the oil filter rim, and spun the filter right off. After this episode, I found out who made this oil filter locking wrench and ordered it, it is on my boat now.

Full control
This wrench will absolutely take control of a bunch of anything and make it a solid piece.I use it for welding mostly and it literally locks stuff together so tightly one piece of metal will dent another. I also have used it to carry loads of pipe and square tubing- 2 of these at either end and the bundle is like one piece! If you have a stuck oil filter it will give up to this-period. I've used it with bundles of tubing on the chop saw too.A no BS tool that you should have- you might not use it everyday but those couple times you do use it you'll thank god you bought it.

You need these tools!
These belong in your toolbox...period. I recommend buying a pair to be used in opposition. Honestly, once you have a Vise Chain Wrench you will wonder how you ever got along without it. These are by far my favorite tools. I just purchased a second pair because I packed them in a checked soft sided piece of luggage that was crushed during a trip to a distant international laboratory. The wrenches were bent beyond use and I was 10,000 miles from any hope of replacements. I was seriously annoyed and had to make do with sub-par arrangements for a couple of months. I’ve now fixed the situation and also learned a good lesson that I should have anticipated. If you travel, pack them in a secure box that will not crush or just use your carryon.
