Review of Hairfor2/Volluma Products
Review of Hairfor2/Volluma ProductsOn researching colored hair sprays that would conceal thin and/or balding areas of the head, I came across the brand Hairfor2. The marketing literature looked convincing and decided to give it a try. When trying to order the product (Hair concealer, shampoo and hair spray) I became suspicious when coming across 2 different websites with different names (Hairfor2 and Volluma) with the same products and pricing but different addresses in Canada claiming to cover the USA territory. A response from Lilywhite Cosmetics Inc. explained that the name brand Volluma had been changed to Hairfor2 due to copyright disputes of the name Volluma, and the product was produced by the same manufacturer. Not sure what the role of Lilywhite is. Upon mentioning that I wanted to test /review the product, I was offered half the price for the entire order.I believe any testing/reviewing of any product requires some time in order to evaluate any strengths/weaknesses, asses its quality, issues, if any.The color hairspray Hairfor2 concealer works well by adhering to the hair shaft although it makes a mess all over and the hair feels stiff. Care should be taken as it rubs easily on the pillow or comes off on your hands and when water is applied to the covered surface, it comes off easily. The hair spray claimed to make your hair feel more natural, however it does not feel any different than any other hairspray available in the market. The shampoo also has no clear advantage to others in the market.Even at half the price, the product is not cheap and comparable products are available at a much lower cost. After using the products for 1.5 months the after hair spray stopped working. I contacted Customer Service Hairfor2 North America located in Canada who claimed to been a very strange issue, as they had never had that problem before. They suggested I clean the nozzle but they could not take it back due to shipping costs plus stating that I had paid only half when I ordered it. As a consolation, they offered me on my next order a free unit provided I purchase 2 units plus shipping costs. When I mentioned back that the product had a manufacturing date more than 4 year old and that typically the most common problem with old hairspray products is that the polymer in the spray nozzles can harden and become impenetrable blockages that keep from dispensing any more of the product. In addition to being worried about shipping cost and not prioritizing product and customer support; they did not response to those facts but offered returning me the cost of the hair spray (funny that they did not include the shipping cost).I doubt the American market will be a growing market for these products with different names. The products offer no significant advantage to similar products in the market. Similar products with better quality and customer support are available at a much lower cost.
